Merry Mob ("we," "us," or "our") operates the merrymob mobile application (the "App"), which helps organizers run pickleball leagues and events, and helps players find, join, and play in them. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
This policy is written for a US-general audience. If you are located outside the United States, additional rights may apply to you depending on your jurisdiction; contact us with questions.
When you create an account, we collect your email address, a password (stored as a salted hash — we never store or have access to your plaintext password), your display name, and your selected role (player, organizer, or both).
You may instead sign up or sign in using Google or Apple. In that case, we receive the identifiers and basic profile information (such as name and email) that Google or Apple shares with us under your account settings with them.
Your player profile may include your display name, an avatar image, a self-reported skill rating, and optionally a phone number. If you choose to link a DUPR (Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating) account, we store your DUPR ID and rating and share your player identifier with DUPR to keep your rating in sync — see "Third-Party Services" below.
The App requests access to your device's location to help you find events near you. Specifically:
If you choose to add an event to your calendar from the App, we request permission to write that single event (its name, time, and venue) directly into your device's calendar app. We do not read, store, or transmit any of your existing calendar entries — this stays entirely on your device.
If you use in-app chat (group or event chat), we store the content of your messages, timestamps, who sent them, and read receipts/reactions, so that messages can be delivered and displayed to other members of the relevant group or event. Chat messages are not end-to-end encrypted.
If you enable push notifications, we store a device push token so we can deliver notifications (such as match updates, chat messages, or event reminders) via Apple/Google's push notification services (through the Expo push notification service).
We use an observability/monitoring service to help us detect and fix bugs and performance issues. This telemetry can include your user ID and technical details about your device and app usage (such as request timing and error information). We do not send your email address or message content to this service.
We use a product analytics service to understand how the App is used — for example, which screens you visit, whether steps like registering, joining an event, or creating a group are completed, and general feature usage. This can include your user ID, the screens and actions you use, and basic device information. We do not use this service for cross-app tracking or third-party advertising, and it does not receive your precise location, message content, or payment information.
We do not collect or process payment card information — the App does not currently integrate a payment processor. Any "registration fee" shown for an event is informational only and is not charged through the App. We do not knowingly collect any information from children (see "Children's Privacy" below).
We use the information above to:
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
We share limited information with the following third parties, solely to provide the App's functionality:
| Service | What's shared | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Google / Apple | OAuth identifiers, basic profile info | Sign-in |
| DUPR | Player identifier and rating | Rating sync (only if you link a DUPR account) |
| Expo push notification service | Device push token | Delivering push notifications |
| Sentry | User ID, technical/diagnostic data | Monitoring app health and fixing bugs |
| PostHog | User ID, screens and actions used | Product analytics (understanding feature usage and onboarding) |
We do not otherwise sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
We retain your account and profile information for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account at any time from Profile → Delete Account in the App.
When you request deletion, your account is deactivated immediately and your session is ended. You have 29 days to change your mind — logging back in during that window lets you reactivate your account. If you don't log back in, after 29 days:
If you organize any upcoming events at the time you request deletion, you'll need to cancel or hand them off first — the App will show you which ones before letting you proceed.
The App is not directed to, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from, children under 13 (or the relevant minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not currently verify age at signup. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will delete that information promptly. Parents or guardians who believe their child has provided us with personal information can contact us using the information in "Contact Us" below to request that it be removed.
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including password hashing and access controls. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by other means before the changes take effect.
